On Friday September 2nd, 2022, The Wu-Tang Clan and The GodSon himself, Nas, invaded the Chicagoland area! To add to the star studded classic event, the incomparable Busta Rhymes and life long friend and hypeman Spliff Star also blessed the stage!
The city was buzzing as the Killer Beez and the "New York State of Mind" tour formed in Chicago's Tinley Park. With a capacity of 28,000 spectators, there wasn't an empty seat in sight. The Wu-Tang Clan brought out The RZA The Genius, UGod, Raekwon The Chef and The Ghostface Killa Tony Stark. Fans of all ages sang along as the world renown artists performed hits like C.R.E.A.M. and Ice Cream! , "Get the money, dolla dolla bill ya'lllllll" could be heard from miles away. Although there were a few members that weren't able to attend this stop in the tour, it was still a moment in history!
As special guests Busta Rhymes and Spliff Star went through Busta's catalog of hits, it was clear that Busta and Spliff are entertainers and they did just that! The crowd went crazy as this legendary tongue twisting lyricist spit bars at lightning speeds. Aside from the bright colored Louis Vuitton outfit Busta rocked, their stage show and graphics were extremely creative and captivating.
Last and definitely not least, The GodSon, QB's finest Nas blessed the stage with hits like "It's Yours", "Hate Me Now" and more than I can even remember to name. The Queens bred rapper has over 2 decades of chart topping hits and is arguably one of the top five best rappers of all time!
This 25 city tour spanned down the East coast to the West and Midwest. With music and mainly the sound of rap music changing so drastically in recent times, many hip-hop enthusiasts find comfort in the nostalgic sounds of "real hip-hop". Hip-hop is very alive and continues to thrive!!!
