What is South by SouthWest (SXSW)?

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

Via www.sxsw.com : "South by Southwest® (SXSW®) celebrates the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture. Join us in Austin, Texas for SXSW 2023!"

The conference and festivals for 2023 run from March 10-19 !

There are many different types of festivals in Texas, but none can compare to the South by SouthWest, also known as the SXSW festival in Austin. With so many different artists to see, some people say that 10 days are not enough to experience the whole festival. While you can explore the city of Austin, there are live bands playing and lots of food. There's even some street art done by local artists which you can see at the art gallery. There's even a part where you can see amazing upcoming creators present their futuristic creations.

Aside from all the food and fun activities you can do there are bands that play at SXSW, such as some from years before like Wet Leg, Shawn Mendes, Cymande, Beck, and Sebastian Yatra. Even though those are some of the bands that played at SXSW, there are a total of 1,400 artists scheduled to perform on 79 stages through the 10-day festival.

If you’re at SXSW at the right time and the right place, you can see some surprise celebrities that may make an appearance. At the 2022 festival Sandra Bullock, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, and Debby Ryan attended the festival. We are excited to see who has been spotted so far this year in the crowds !

Even though SXSW is a festival where people can have fun, some go to present their creations and are given rewards for them. Many also try to see the opinions people have about their creations to expand and create even better products to advocate for in the future. If you're an artist of any kind and have not experienced this festival yet, we highly encourage you to take the trip to Austin, TX one year and enjoy the 10 day conference.

Check out the schedule for this evening March 15th, 2023.
